Franklin County Community Services opens drop-in center

Area residents coping with a mental illness once again have a place in Franklin County to receive care and comfort.

Through CICS, Franklin County Community Services has opened the CICS Center of Franklin County, 214 4th St. SE, a drop in center that offers a friendly, compassionate environment for anyone struggling with a mental health disorder.

Russell Wood, Community Services Director, said community services pursued the center after the Alcoholism Service Center, which offered a drop-in center, closed at the end of 2018.

“With them closing, we opted to start up one on our own because we had a number of people that really saw a benefit and utilized the center,” he said. “We decided to go to the region (CICS) and submit a proposal and they funded the proposal.”
